I Want to Know More, 12/11/2025

Now to the scripture I’ve been dreading: 2 Samuel 20:3. I’ve dreaded it because it makes me angry — angry at David, angry and the flesh, angry at the way the world does things. “Marriage is honourable in all!” But these are not wives; these are concubines. Concubinage, like having multiple wives, is a direct affront to the institution of marriage as God ordained it. Marriage is supposed to be a type of Christ and the Church; committed, singular, and life-long. Concubinage weakens the commitment, destroys the singularity, and threatens the longevity of the relationship, and is definitely not God’s perfect will.

And even though this audio aired as the broadcast last Saturday, I prayed long and hard before uploading it to the podcast, which should have been done on 12/6. Because thinking about what happened to these ten ladies makes me angry; it would be very easy to let that anger spill over into the message, and preached messages must come from a heart of love.

This is part one; part two should post at the same time the broadcast airs this coming Saturday 12/13.
