This Christmas season, as we celebrate the Gift of God in the man Christ Jesus, the Lord sent me around to an unusual scripture, that in John chapter 4 dealing with the Samaritan woman at the well. True enough, the story tells us that she was a concubine (the man she lived with was not her husband), and it behooves us to really think about what the gift of Christmas means to her. This week, we begin with an overview, a read-through of the Scripture, and a short introduction to this woman and her situation.
