Now to the scripture I’ve been dreading: 2 Samuel 20:3. I’ve dreaded it because it makes me angry — angry at David, angry and the flesh, angry at the way the world does things. “Marriage is honourable in all!” But these are not wives; these are concubines. Concubinage, like having multiple wives, is a direct affront to the institution of marriage as God ordained it. Marriage is supposed to be a type of Christ and the Church; committed, singular, and life-long. Concubinage weakens the commitment, destroys the singularity, and threatens the longevity of the relationship, and is definitely not God’s perfect will. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And even though this audio aired as the broadcast last Saturday, I prayed long and hard before uploading it to the podcast, which should have been done on 12\/6. Because thinking about what happened to these ten ladies makes me angry; it would be very easy to let that anger spill over into the message, and preached messages must come from a heart of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
