At the end of the 20th chapter of second Samuel, we find an updated list of David’s officers, which leads straight in to the next major event recorded in David’s reign, the three-year-long famine because of Saul’s destruction of some of the Gibeonites. This week we first look at the new officer list, and then we begin the study of this famine.
